Preparing for your Vaccination visit

  • Make sure that you know the date and time of your appointment.

  • Please ensure that you arrive on time and allow sufficient travel time to arrive without having to rush, but please do not arrive too early. There are lots of people to vaccinate and patients will be vaccinated in order of their appointment time. If you arrive too early you will more than likely have to wait until people scheduled before you have been vaccinated.

  • Unfortunately, there are limited facilities for queuing under cover prior to check in inside the building, so please ensure that you come suitably dressed for the forecasted weather. There is cover from any rain or snow, but the shelters are open sided and so will only give limited shelter from cold and wind. This also applies to anybody accompanying you, as they will have to remain outside the building. We would like to thank Go Kidsgrove and the Our Burslem Facebook group for supplying the gazebos we are using.

  • If you have any mobility problems, please bring your wheelchair/walking aids with you. The path between the car park and the building is flat and approximately 100 yards long.

  • DO Not attend if you have any COVID-19 symptoms.

On the day of your vaccination

  • Please park on the Birchenwood Country Park car park. This is located on the same side of the road as the vaccination centre and will avoid you having to cross the road.

  • There is a wheelchair available, if necessary, but If you have any mobility issues please bring your own equipment in order to minimise any possible delays and the need to sanitise the communal equipment.

  • If there are any delays due to the vaccinations running late you may be asked to wait in your vehicle. This is to minimise the time that you may have to queue outside. When asked please let the steward know your appointment time so that they can ensure you are advised when your scheduled time slot is being vaccinated.

  • When queuing please ensure that you comply with the social distancing guidelines, however tempting it may be to socialise with friends and acquaintances you may not have seen for some time.

  • Due to space constraints mobility scooters are not allowed in the building.

  • You will need to sign a consent form before you can receive your vaccination so please ensure that you bring your glasses if you need them.

  • Once vaccinated you will be shown to a waiting area where you will be required to wait for 15 minutes. This is an observation period to ensure that you do not have any adverse reaction to the vaccination.

  • Please note that family and friends are unable to accompany you, unless you need an advocate. If friends or family are accompanying you, they should wait outside, or return to the vehicle for a while, due to the need for the 15-minute observation period after your vaccination.

  • Please try to avoid parking on the road as it be a busy road and there is also a zebra crossing, children’s play area and the medical centre in close vicinity.

  • Don't forget to maintain social distancing before and after your vaccination.

What to expect after you have had your vaccination

  • You should not expect to have any adverse reaction to your vaccination.

  • It is not unusual for the area where the vaccination was administered to be slightly sore for a day or so after it was given.

  • You will be given a leaflet which will contain all the information you require in case you have any additional questions
